Vehicle + Loading Brief

Planning framework for vehicle-capable temporary event surfaces without relying on unverified catalogue distributed-load figures.

Planning sequence

Treat vehicle access as a complete temporary works problem.

The current catalogue contains high distributed-load claims, but those figures are deliberately not used here to define allowable vehicles. The brief starts with the actual vehicle, wheels, route and supporting ground.

01

Identify every vehicle

List passenger vehicles, utility vehicles, forklifts, delivery trucks, lifts or other mobile plant expected on the temporary surface.

02

Capture wheel and axle information

Provide gross mass where known, axle arrangement, wheel count, tyre type and tyre/contact information where available. Do not substitute a catalogue distributed-load number for this information.

03

Map movement zones

Show entry and exit routes, turning circles, braking zones, stopping/parking areas, loading points and any slopes or transitions.

04

Define the substrate

Record turf, synthetic surface, hardstand or prepared ground, including known soft spots, drainage constraints, level changes and any protection layers.

05

Separate panel capacity from ground support

The deck and the ground beneath it act together. Heavy-access review must consider the complete temporary build-up rather than only the panel.

06

Close engineering and operating controls

Confirm the selected system, supporting evidence, permitted vehicle classes, ramps/edges, speed/turning controls and local temporary-works responsibilities before use.

Heavy-access pathways

Start high enough, then verify the actual vehicle.

H3, H4 and H5 are the main public heavy-access pathways. Their relative position reflects product construction and intended use, not an approved axle-load table.

PathwayDocumented constructionPlanning role
H3 Event & Vehicle Deck500 × 500 × 50 mm PP pathwaySelected service-vehicle and production access starting point.
H4 Large-Format Event Deck1000 × 500 × 50 mm PP pathway; cable-channel optionLarge-area venue coverage with heavy access and cable-management needs.
H5 Extreme-Duty Protection Deck1000 × 1000 × 55 mm HDPE pathway; rotary lockingHighest-duty route for demanding temporary access and roadway briefs, subject to full project verification.

Project confirmation

Keep the documented product separate from the final temporary works design.

  • Do not convert the catalogue distributed-load numbers into axle or wheel limits.
  • Vehicle speed, turning and braking can create loads not represented by a simple static rating.
  • Ground/substrate support remains part of the temporary works review.
  • Final permitted vehicles and operating controls must be documented for the project.

Move into the project brief

Capture these conditions before the quotation stage.

The dedicated brief keeps surface, duration, traffic, vehicles, cables, transitions, destination and project responsibilities together.
