HLJÓÐ · Sports scoring + timing integration

Keep the scoreboard logic upstream of the screen.

HLJÓÐ can present score, timing, replay and results content. The scoring or timing system remains the source of truth, and compatibility is only confirmed when its actual output, protocol and operating workflow are known.

Integration architecture

One controlled chain from match data to spectator display.

The exact hardware varies by sport and scoring platform, but the responsibility chain should stay clear. HLJÓÐ sits at the presentation end of that chain, not inside the scoring logic.

01Scoring / timing source

Official scoring console, timing system, results platform or production graphics source.

→
02Documented output

Rendered video, network data, serial / scoreboard bus, gateway or approved manual workflow.

→
03Integration / graphics layer

Integrator, graphics engine or protocol gateway where required.

→
04HLJÓÐ display system

Processor, receiving architecture, mapped canvas and selected LED screen platform.

Boundary rule: if the scoring system cannot provide a documented compatible data output, a rendered video / graphics feed can still be a valid display pathway. That does not make the LED system the scoring engine.

Sport-family pathways

Typical data needs differ by sport.

These are planning fields, not universal protocol definitions. The exact fields and competition logic come from the selected scoring / timing platform and event rules.

01

Football + rugby

ScoreMatch clockPeriod / halfTeam identitySelected event / status data

Large outdoor display usually receives a scoring / timing output or rendered video / graphics feed from the match-control system.

02

Basketball + 3x3

ScoreGame clockShot clockPeriodTeam fouls / possession where supported

Shot clocks and game-clock logic remain part of the dedicated scoring system. HLJÓÐ presents verified data or a rendered graphics feed.

03

Hockey + indoor field sports

ScoreGame clockPeriodPenalty / status data where supportedTeam identity

Exact penalty, timeout and status fields vary by scoring platform and competition workflow.

04

Aquatic

Event / heatLane / athlete identityTiming / resultsStart / finish dataRecord / rank fields where supported

Aquatic timing is a specialist timing workflow. Display integration starts from the timing system's documented output, not from the LED screen.

05

Athletics

Event metadataTiming / resultsLane / athlete identityAttempt / result data where supportedVenue graphics

The results system and event-management platform remain the source of truth. The LED layer receives a verified output or rendered graphics feed.

06

Court + racket sports

ScoreSet / gameServe / possession where relevantClock where relevantPlayer / team identity

Tennis, padel, pickleball, volleyball and similar sports can require different data fields and control logic. Compatibility is system-specific.

Integration brief

Capture the interface before anyone promises compatibility.

If the scoring platform is not selected yet, that is fine. Mark it as pending and preserve the required display and workflow outcome instead of guessing a protocol.

Current integration status

Integration pathway pending

Identify the scoring / timing source, available output and operator / integrator before treating the display as an integrated scoreboard system.

Closure checklist
  • Exact scoring / timing controller or source system identified
  • Output method and protocol documentation obtained
  • Required score / timing / results fields defined
  • Graphics rendering responsibility defined
  • Primary and backup signal path defined
  • Operator / scorer / production workflow defined
  • Display processor input and canvas mapping defined
  • End-to-end commissioning / test plan defined

Integration handoff

Keep the uncertainty visible.

The brief is useful even when the scoring platform is not selected yet. It records what still has to be proven instead of converting an unknown interface into a public compatibility claim.

HLJÓÐ SPORTS SCORING & TIMING INTEGRATION BRIEF
Current integration status: Integration pathway pending
Identify the scoring / timing source, available output and operator / integrator before treating the display as an integrated scoreboard system.
INTEGRATION CLOSURE ITEMS
- Exact scoring / timing controller or source system identified
- Output method and protocol documentation obtained
- Required score / timing / results fields defined
- Graphics rendering responsibility defined
- Primary and backup signal path defined
- Operator / scorer / production workflow defined
- Display processor input and canvas mapping defined
- End-to-end commissioning / test plan defined
Compatibility is not assumed from the LED display hardware. Final protocol, controller, graphics, signal, redundancy, commissioning and competition requirements remain system- and project-specific.

Scoring architecture feeds the display brief — it does not replace it.
