Turf Protection Planning Guide

Planning framework for temporary event flooring over turf, including ventilation, drainage, light-transmission and traffic considerations.

Planning sequence

Protect the field as part of the event plan.

The current source catalogue documents ventilated, drainage and light-transmitting product pathways, but it does not provide a universal grass-survival timetable. The project brief therefore starts with the field and event conditions.

01

Identify the playing surface

Record natural turf, synthetic turf or mixed field conditions. The documented product range includes perforated, ventilated and light-transmitting pathways, but the correct field-management approach is project-specific.

02

Define the covered area and event duration

Map the exact footprint, installation sequence and expected time under cover. The current catalogue does not establish a universal safe maximum cover duration for natural turf.

03

Set the protection priority

Choose whether the brief is primarily pedestrian protection, air/water movement, light transmission, heavier production access or a combination of these requirements.

04

Map traffic separately

Separate audience, seating, carts, production equipment and any vehicles. A turf-friendly panel choice does not by itself establish the traffic capacity of the complete field build-up.

05

Plan drainage and field operations

Document irrigation, drainage, weather exposure, access points and the field team's pre-event and post-event requirements. P2 and H5 show ventilation/drainage features; T1 shows a light-transmitting pathway.

06

Verify the chosen configuration

Before quotation, match the selected panel to the exact product version, supporting technical documentation, edge/transition layout and venue requirements.

Turf-focused pathways

Three different starting approaches.

These distinctions come from the documented product geometry and features. They are not statements of guaranteed turf outcomes.

PathwayDocumented characteristicUse in the brief
P1 Pedestrian TurfLightweight roll-out modular coverShort-duration pedestrian/event circulation starting pathway.
P2 Ventilated TurfAir/water openings plus underside cable-routing featureWhere drainage/ventilation and general event use are priorities.
T1 Translucent TurfLight-transmitting panel pathway plus water-return/drainage conceptWhere maintaining light availability is specifically part of the field-management brief.

Project confirmation

Keep the documented product separate from the final temporary works design.

  • Panel ventilation, drainage or transparency does not establish a guaranteed turf outcome.
  • Cover duration, weather, field condition and event loading remain project inputs.
  • Quantified light transmission is not available from the current catalogue.
  • Final fire, slip and load evidence must match the supplied configuration.

Move into the project brief

Capture these conditions before the quotation stage.

The dedicated brief keeps surface, duration, traffic, vehicles, cables, transitions, destination and project responsibilities together.
