Permanent protection within the opening

Impact windows that make severe-weather protection part of the building envelope.

Apollo can supply aluminium window pathways where impact-resistant glazing, frame, hardware, seals and structural fixing are considered together as a permanent protected opening for suitable hurricane and cyclone projects.

01Project guidance

Impact glass is not the whole window.

A hurricane impact window is a complete assembly. Laminated or impact-resistant glazing needs to remain supported by the aluminium frame, mullions, hardware, seals and anchors under the applicable impact and pressure conditions.

02Project guidance

Permanent protection reduces storm deployment.

Impact windows remain in place year-round and do not require an exterior shutter to be closed before every storm where the impact window itself satisfies the applicable project requirements. This can be valuable for hotels, apartments, remote homes and upper levels.

03Project guidance

Opening types can include more than one window format.

Depending on the selected system, project pathways can include fixed glazing, casement, awning, sliding and combination windows. Maximum dimensions and performance remain system-specific.

  • Casement
  • Awning
  • Sliding
  • Combination assemblies
  • Thermal-break pathways where available
04Project guidance

Coastal performance includes water, air and long-term durability.

Wind pressure and impact are only part of the opening. Water management, frame drainage, seals, coatings, hardware and correct installation remain important in salt-laden severe-weather environments.

Impact-window product reference

Current manufacturing-network product imagery for a black aluminium casement hurricane-impact-window pathway. The image confirms the available product format, while exact glazing build-up, frame series, hardware, dimensions and tested performance are verified for the project configuration.

Reference imagery is used to show genuine product/application context. Apollo NZ Global remains the project supply contact for new enquiries.

Technical claim control

Performance follows the exact system and project.

Opening size, positive and negative design pressures, impact requirements, tracks or frames, anchors and structural substrate all affect final performance. Apollo ties numerical wind, impact and certification claims to the applicable tested or engineered configuration rather than applying one blanket rating to an entire product family.
