Protected access openings

Impact doors for entrances, patios and major glazed openings.

A protected building envelope cannot stop at the windows. Apollo can supply suitable aluminium entrance, glazed, patio and sliding-door pathways where the complete door assembly is selected around severe-weather requirements.

01Project guidance

Doors can be some of the building's largest frequently used openings.

Entrances, patio doors and sliders combine large glass areas with moving panels, thresholds, locks and hardware. Each of these elements contributes to the performance of the completed opening.

02Project guidance

Sliding doors need to be assessed at their actual size.

As panel widths, heights and overall spans grow, loads on glass, interlocks, frames, rollers and anchors change. A smaller tested configuration should not automatically be assumed suitable at much larger dimensions.

03Project guidance

Hardware is part of the structural system.

Hinges, rollers, multipoint locks, bolts, interlocks and thresholds are functional system components. Final hardware selection should correspond with the exact door configuration and environmental exposure.

04Project guidance

Doors can work with shutters rather than competing with them.

A building might use impact entrance doors while protecting particularly wide sliders with accordion shutters. Complete-Building Protection chooses the system around each opening rather than applying one product everywhere.

Technical claim control

Performance follows the exact system and project.

Opening size, positive and negative design pressures, impact requirements, tracks or frames, anchors and structural substrate all affect final performance. Apollo ties numerical wind, impact and certification claims to the applicable tested or engineered configuration rather than applying one blanket rating to an entire product family.
