Wide-opening protection

Side-stacking hurricane protection for sliders, balconies and wide glazed openings.

Accordion shutters remain permanently attached and travel horizontally across an opening, folding to one or both sides when not required. They are particularly valuable where wide openings make conventional window protection impractical.

01Project guidance

Made for more than windows.

Wide sliding doors, balconies, terraces and hospitality openings can create several square metres of exposed glazing in one location. Accordion shutters provide a permanent side-stacking pathway for these larger spans.

02Project guidance

Single-stack or double-stack configuration follows the opening.

The full shutter can stack to one side where clearance is available, or divide toward both sides on wider openings. The final arrangement depends on opening width, structure, access and available stacking space.

03Project guidance

Balcony protection can change the whole strategy.

Depending on structure and project requirements, protection may sit directly over individual windows and doors or across a wider balcony opening. This can be especially useful for resorts and apartment developments.

04Project guidance

Tracks, locks and anchors must work as one system.

The panel assembly alone does not define performance. Track support, locking, anchors, substrate and maximum tested or engineered dimensions need to correspond with the proposed configuration.

Real-world reference

Hurricane accordion-shutter reference — Bahamas

A real Bahamas installation from Apollo's approved manufacturing network showing accordion-style hurricane shutters deployed across residential window openings. It is included as application evidence only; the proposed system for a new project is still matched to its own opening sizes, structure and technical requirements.

Reference imagery is used to show genuine product/application context. Apollo NZ Global remains the project supply contact for new enquiries.

Technical claim control

Performance follows the exact system and project.

Opening size, positive and negative design pressures, impact requirements, tracks or frames, anchors and structural substrate all affect final performance. Apollo ties numerical wind, impact and certification claims to the applicable tested or engineered configuration rather than applying one blanket rating to an entire product family.
