Why openings matter.

Windows, doors and other exterior openings interrupt the protective shell of the building. If a major opening is breached, wind and rain can enter and internal pressure conditions can change, adding to the demands on the wider structure.

These are related but different performance questions. A product that resists high pressure is not automatically impact rated, and neither claim replaces proper window, threshold, flashing and drainage design.
