Designed to be seen.

Colonial shutters sit beside the window throughout the year, so proportions and finish matter. They can suit traditional, tropical, plantation-influenced and heritage-inspired coastal architecture.

02Project guidance

Side clearance is part of the design.

Open shutter leaves need sufficient room beside windows and must avoid corners, downpipes, exterior lighting and adjacent openings. Early façade coordination produces the cleanest result.

03Project guidance

The closing hardware is structural, not decorative.

Hinges, locks, bolts, fasteners and the surrounding wall all contribute to the final system. A decorative side-hinged shutter should not be represented as hurricane rated without configuration-specific evidence.

Use Colonial shutters where they genuinely suit the opening.

They are strongest around conventional windows. Wide sliders, garages and large commercial openings are normally better addressed by accordion, roll-down or heavy-duty systems.
