Walk the home from the roof outward and record obvious ember and ignition pathways.

Use this as a maintenance and briefing checklist. It does not predict wildfire behaviour, replace local defensible-space or WUI requirements, or certify a building as wildfire-resistant.

01 · Building

Start at the structure.

Roof, valleys and guttersCheck for leaves, needles, combustible debris and damaged or open junctions.Vents and small openingsCheck ember-entry pathways without blocking required building ventilation.Immediate area beside the homeCheck combustible mulch, dry vegetation, mats, furniture, storage and debris close to walls or attached elements.Decks, stairs and under-deck areasCheck board gaps, debris, stored items and combustible material beneath or against attached structures.

02 · Around the home

Check connected outdoor fuel paths.

Fences and gatesCheck combustible fence or gate connections that directly meet the building.Firewood, gas cylinders and stored combustiblesCheck whether stored fuel and other combustible items sit immediately beside the home.Vegetation and dead materialCheck dead leaves, ladder fuels and continuous vegetation that could carry fire toward the structure.Access and maintenanceCheck that the areas needing recurring cleaning, inspection or repair are actually reachable.
