Large architectural tensile membrane canopies in a contemporary public space
ZAHREQARCHITECTURAL MEMBRANE SYSTEMS

PTFE · PVDF · ETFE

Engineered tensile architecture for ambitious spaces.

Project-specific architectural membrane systems for stadiums, transport facilities, resorts, public spaces, parking and landmark structures.

ARCHITECTURAL MEMBRANE SYSTEMS

Shelter becomes part of the architecture.

ZAHREQ is developed for projects where membrane, steel and geometry define the space. The project brief determines the structural form, membrane pathway, environmental design basis and fabrication strategy rather than forcing the architecture into a fixed catalogue model.

PROJECT PATHWAYS

One membrane platform. Six architectural settings.

ZAHREQ stays separate from lightweight event structures and conventional outdoor shade. It is the Apollo pathway for permanent, engineered membrane architecture.

MEMBRANE SELECTION

Specify the membrane around the project.

Final selection depends on geometry, intended design life, fire requirements, translucency, climate, client specification and the verified manufacturing pathway.

PTFE

Long-life architectural membrane

Premium permanent membrane pathway for major transport, sport, civic and landmark architecture.

Supplier-supported membrane warranty pathway: typically 20–25 years, subject to selected membrane and written project warranty.Explore PTFE
PVDF

High-performance coated membrane

Commercial architectural membrane pathway for hospitality, public realm, parking and sports structures.

Supplier-supported membrane warranty pathway: typically 10–15 years, subject to selected membrane and written project warranty.Explore PVDF
ETFE

Transparent specialist architecture

Single-layer and cushion systems for significant specialist projects requiring lightness and transparency.

Project-specific only. Final fabrication follows verified supporting geometry and the agreed measurement pathway.Explore ETFE

Recognised architectural membrane brands can be sourced where required by the project specification, including supplier-supported pathways for Mehler, Verseidag, Serge Ferrari and Saint-Gobain. Availability remains project-specific and does not imply brand endorsement of ZAHREQ.

ENGINEERING & GCC READINESS

Designed around the site, not a catalogue wind rating.

Wind design is established for each project around location, applicable code, terrain, height, surroundings and final geometry. Supplier engineering pathways can support AS/NZS, Eurocode, ASCE and GCC project requirements.

80 mSupplier-stated maximum clear-span capability, subject to project engineering.
85 μmSupplier-recommended minimum hot-dip galvanising zinc thickness for selected GCC coastal project pathways.
316 / 316LAvailable for exposed cables, turnbuckles, bolts and selected marine/coastal hardware.
S355 / Q355Structural steel pathway available subject to the approved project specification.

FROM CONCEPT TO FABRICATED STRUCTURE

Geometry control is part of the product.

For PTFE and ETFE, supporting geometry is controlled through the agreed project measurement pathway before final membrane manufacture where required.

CLEAR SYSTEM BOUNDARIES

Membrane architecture, not every large structure.

ZAHREQ owns permanent PTFE, PVDF and ETFE architectural membrane structures.

ZABALERA remains Apollo's large-span structural-building pathway for space frames, steel trusses, domes, halls and complete major structural envelopes.

SARENTA remains the lightweight, event, relocatable and selected clear-span structure pathway.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SUPPLY

Specialist manufacture. Local project responsibility.

Apollo NZ Global operates as a wholesale and project-supply company. ZAHREQ systems can include supplier engineering coordination, structural calculations, fabrication drawings, membrane fabrication, structural steel, specialist fittings, installation documentation and technical support according to the agreed project scope.

Local authority approvals, local engineer certification, foundations, civil works and installation remain project-specific responsibilities unless expressly included in writing.

PROJECT QUESTIONS

What specifiers usually need to know first.

ZAHREQ is project-specific, so the right answer depends on the exact membrane, geometry, site and approval pathway.

PTFE or PVDF?

PTFE is the premium long-life starting point for major permanent architecture. PVDF is a strong commercial pathway for hospitality, public realm, parking and many sports structures. Final selection depends on design life, fire, translucency, budget and project conditions.

Where does ETFE fit?

ETFE is reserved for significant specialist architecture where transparency and low structural weight justify tighter geometry control and a more complex fabrication and services pathway.

Is there a standard wind rating?

No. Wind design is established for the actual site, terrain, height, surroundings, geometry and applicable code rather than represented by a universal catalogue rating.

What changes for coastal projects?

Corrosion protection is reviewed against actual exposure. Hot-dip galvanising, duplex coating and 316 / 316L exposed hardware pathways can be specified where appropriate.

Who installs the structure?

Apollo is supply-only. Installation is undertaken by the appointed local project team unless a written scope expressly includes another arrangement. Supplier engineering supervision can be reviewed separately.

What is needed for a first review?

Project location, intended use, approximate dimensions, required span and height, drawings if available, known wind or fire criteria, exposure conditions and target programme are the best starting inputs.
