ZAHREQ · MEMBRANE SELECTION GUIDE

PTFE vs PVDF vs ETFE: which membrane pathway fits the project?

The right membrane is not chosen from one performance number. It is selected around the architecture, intended service life, fire requirements, light transmission, geometry, environment and project delivery pathway.
01

PTFE

PTFE fibreglass is ZAHREQ's premium starting pathway for major permanent tensile architecture where long service life, stable architectural form and high-end specification are priorities.

02

PVDF

PVDF-coated polyester is a strong commercial architectural pathway where permanent weather protection, tensile form and project value need to be balanced.

03

ETFE

ETFE is a specialist transparent-architecture pathway rather than a generic shade product. It is suited to significant projects where transparency and very low membrane weight justify tighter structural and services coordination.

04

The decision is project-specific

Membrane brand, exact grade, fire performance, structural form, translucency, climate, corrosion strategy, drainage, maintenance and intended design life must be confirmed against the actual project. ZAHREQ does not substitute a generic membrane table for project engineering.

NEXT STEP

Turn the planning information into a project review.

Send the location, use, dimensions and available drawings. ZAHREQ can then assess the appropriate PTFE, PVDF or ETFE pathway and identify the technical information still required.
