Sports & Courts · Specific answer

Can Sports Tiles Go Over Concrete?

Yes—modular sports tiles are commonly considered over concrete, provided the slab is a suitable supporting base. The fact that the tiles interlock does not remove the need to inspect the concrete first.

Planning guidance — final supplied configuration remains project-specific.

01

Check the slab first

Review stability, large cracks, movement, high or low areas, old coatings, contamination and any drainage or ponding problems before the court surface is ordered.

02

Drainage still matters

Open modular tiles can let water pass through the playing layer, but the concrete below still needs a practical route for water to leave the site.

03

Final installation is system-specific

Expansion gaps, edge details and preparation should follow the selected tile system and actual court layout.
