Apollo NZ GlobalBuild Project Brief

Sports & Courts · Specific answer

Can Sports Flooring Go Over an Existing Painted Court?

An existing painted hard court may be a useful substrate, but the condition of the coating and the slab beneath still matter. Do not assume a visually intact painted surface is automatically installation-ready.

Planning guidance — final supplied configuration remains project-specific.

01

Check the existing coating

Look for peeling, weak adhesion, chalking, contamination, thick repairs and areas where the coating hides cracks or movement.

02

The installation method matters

A loose-laid modular system and a bonded continuous system can have different preparation requirements. The selected product controls the final method.

03

Review drainage and levels

The old painted finish does not remove ponding or low spots. Base drainage remains part of the project.
