Record Foundry · Cassette Production Guide

Plan the tape, shell and J-card as one cassette edition.

Cassette production is shaped by programme length, Side A / Side B allocation, duplication method, shell availability, printing and the chosen J-card structure. Those decisions should be coordinated before artwork is frozen.

Physical music, properly managed

Format, manufacture, packaging and delivery in one production brief.

Every project is quoted against format, quantity, runtime, colour, packaging, finishing, current production capacity and destination.

01

Programme

The final sequence and running time determine the required tape programme and how the two sides are balanced.

  • Side A / Side B order
  • Runtime by side
  • Album / EP planning
  • Final master review
02

Duplication

The duplication method is selected with the manufacturing partner against the project rather than assumed from a generic specification.

  • Real-time pathway where available
  • High-speed pathway where available
  • Batch production
  • Test cassette where included
03

Shell

Shell colour, transparency and print treatment are confirmed against current production availability.

  • Opaque / transparent pathways
  • Selected shell colours
  • Direct print
  • Printed label pathway
04

J-card

The printed insert needs to match the selected case and panel count before production artwork is approved.

  • Panel count
  • Fold sequence
  • Credits and track list
  • Case assembly

Production pathway

Lock programme length before locking the cassette artwork.

Once the programme, shell and packaging route are confirmed, the final J-card and shell-print templates can be issued for proofing.

Production knowledge centre

Make the manufacturing decisions before the files go to production.

These guides explain the choices that most often affect format, artwork, quantity and production planning. Final templates and factory tolerances are issued only after the exact production route is selected.

How Record Foundry works

SKELVAR manages the production path. Specialist manufacturing partners make the physical product.

We do not present Apollo as the owner of a pressing plant. SKELVAR acts as the project and production-management interface: qualifying the release, coordinating the selected manufacturing route, managing specification and proofing, and keeping the physical formats aligned through production and delivery planning.

Production-ready audioFinal masters are supplied by the customer. Vinyl cutting and production-mastering requirements are confirmed per project.
Manufacturing templatesArtwork is prepared against the selected format, packaging and finishing specification before production approval.
Rights controlledThe customer must own or control the rights needed to reproduce the submitted recordings, artwork and other supplied material.
