Netball facilities should be planned around current World Netball rules and the intended level of play, then expanded into the real site envelope for run-off, access, benches, lighting, containment and maintenance.

Protect run-off and goal-post safety
Goal posts, run-off, padding, entries and adjacent fencing or walls should be coordinated so the playing envelope remains clear and safe.
Plan the surface around grip, drainage and shared use
Outdoor and indoor netball create different surface, moisture and drainage requirements. Shared courts should use a line hierarchy that remains legible across basketball, tennis, futsal or other activities.
Coordinate lighting and spectator infrastructure
Lighting, benches, team zones, officials, spectators, storage and access should be resolved as one facility rather than added around a finished court.
