Architectural Glass System Planning Guide

Architectural glass should be planned as a complete system rather than a panel thickness in isolation. Glass, channels, spigots, posts, hinges, gates, substrates, waterproofing interfaces and destination requirements all need to work together before fabrication is released.

Choose the glass role before the hardware

Start with the application. LYSVAR EDGE is the frameless pool and safety-glass pathway, LYSVAR LINE covers architectural glass balustrades, and LYSVAR DIVIDE covers interior glazed partitions. The final glass and fixing system should follow the role, geometry and destination rather than appearance alone.

Resolve geometry, support and tolerances together

Panel widths and heights, base channels, spigots, posts, hinges, corners, stair geometry, fixing centres and edge distances all interact with the supporting substrate. Record finished levels, waterproofing zones and construction tolerances before glass is ordered.

Site measurement and final fabrication dimensions should be controlled by the appointed project and installation team unless a different verified scope is expressly agreed.

Treat pool and safety barriers as a complete interface

Pool barriers need the glass, gate, hardware, finished ground levels and surrounding climbable zones reviewed together. Self-closing or latching requirements, barrier geometry and destination rules remain project-specific and should be confirmed by the local project team.

Design balustrades around loads and building interfaces

Balconies, stairs, terraces and void edges can place different demands on glass, top edges or handrails, base channels, posts, anchors and substrate. Waterproofing, drainage and slab-edge details should be coordinated before fixings are frozen.

Do not transfer a loading or compliance claim from one glass configuration to another without evidence for the exact proposed system.

Coordinate interior partitions with doors, acoustics and services

Single- and double-glazed partitions need door positions, hardware, floor and ceiling tracks, junctions and service interfaces resolved early. Acoustic, fire or other performance claims should only be used where current evidence applies to the exact assembly being proposed.

Keep the supply and local-responsibility boundary clear
