A practical specification workflow for hinged-lip, telescopic-lip, vertical-storing and manual loading interfaces. Gather vehicle, civil and load information before asking a manufacturer to select the equipment.
01 / Understand the mechanisms
Four different levelling pathways.
No single type is automatically suitable for a specific truck fleet, pit, temperature regime or loading operation.
01 / TECHNICAL FAMILY
Hinged-lip leveller
A hinged front lip is raised during the operating cycle, then set onto a suitable truck/trailer bed. Selection depends on vehicle reach, travel range and verified operating-duty limits.
An extending lip allows controlled placement onto the vehicle bed. It is considered where precise overlap or trailer configurations make lip positioning important.
A stored-upright arrangement may help separate external loading from a temperature-managed building, if compatible with the door, dock and thermal design.
Verify before selection
Storage and deployment sequence, enclosure, pit geometry, local guarding and refrigeration interface.
04 / TECHNICAL FAMILY
Manual leveller or bridge
Manual docking equipment is a separate pathway for limited duty and suitable vehicle geometries; it is not a default substitute for powered pit levellers.
Verify before selection
Operating method, physical handling, rated capacity, fall protection, storage and manufacturer instructions.
02 / Supplier-ready specification brief
Record the site and real load conditions.
Enter what is known. Unknown measurements are acceptable at this stage, but a manufacturer cannot approve the configuration until the missing information is resolved.
Loading dock input schedule
0 / 8 essential fields supplied
Readiness is a data check, not engineering approval. 8 essential fields still require input. Actual total loading-equipment mass does not by itself establish rated capacity: wheel contact, dynamic loads, manufacturer methodology and applicable safety standards must also be checked.
Technical release should require a specific-model submittal.
Manufacturer drawings, pit and frame dimensions, anchor/structural reactions, actual rated capacity and wheel-load assumptions, lip type/travel, operating controls, emergency procedures, warranty and maintenance documents all need approval by the appropriate project parties.
Essential site functions work without analytics. With your permission, Apollo uses analytics to understand which products, guides and project pathways are useful. Analytics stays off until you allow it.
