INDOOR HALL · TABLE TENNIS TECHNICAL CENTRE

Table Tennis facility technical centre.

Table tennis halls are shaped by player space, backgrounds, lighting, floor friction, table movement and event operations. Competition projects should use current ITTF handbook, approved equipment/floor lists and lighting guidance rather than generic indoor-court assumptions.

Apollo Technical Reference · Edition 2026.1 · Governing references reviewed October 2026 · always verify the current competition documents for final design.

HOW TO USE THIS CENTRE

Rules tell you how the sport is played. A facility has to make those rules work in a real building or site.

This page connects playing geometry to structure, surfaces, equipment, lighting, spectators, accessibility, storage, technology, testing and maintenance. It does not replace the governing body, local engineer, architect or statutory authority; it makes the interfaces visible before procurement.

INTERACTIVE FACILITY MAP

See the table tennis facility as one connected system.

Select a layer to see why it matters. This is a conceptual coordination map—not a dimensioned court, field, structural or compliance drawing.

FACILITY LEVEL MATRIX

The technical brief changes with the level of venue.

Do not copy elite-event requirements into every community project—or under-specify a competition venue from a school checklist.

01Schools · councils · participation

Community / education

School/community room with safe table spacing, durable floor and simple storage.

02Clubs · academies · universities

Club / academy

Club hall with multiple tables, barriers, training lighting and efficient changeover.

03Regional · national competition

Competition

Competition venue using current ITTF equipment/floor/lighting requirements and event layout.

04International · professional · broadcast

Elite / major venue

Major event hall with show court, spectators, FÍSVOR, broadcast, warm-up and professional operations.

12 TECHNICAL TOPICS

Design the complete table tennis environment.

Each topic is part of the same facility. Changing one layer can affect several others, which is why product selection should follow the complete brief.

01

Playing geometry

Define table count, playing boxes, barriers, officials, warm-up and circulation from the intended competition/event brief.

02

Surface / playing system

Use a non-slip, consistent indoor sports floor suited to table movement and competition requirements; exact ITTF-approved floor status is product-specific.

03

Sport equipment

Tables, nets, posts, barriers and umpire equipment should follow current approved lists where the event requires them.

04

Lighting

Table tennis has dedicated lighting guidance because glare, uniformity and ball/background visibility strongly affect play.

05

Spectators

Control bright backgrounds, crowd movement and show-court seating while maintaining player/official circulation.

06

Structure + building interface

Lighting, displays, dividers and services should avoid glare and visual clutter above/behind playing boxes.

07

Environment

Temperature, ventilation and direct airflow should support comfort without creating unstable ball behaviour.

08

Accessibility

Accessible participation/viewing and clear circulation should be included around table banks and event areas.

09

Storage + changeover

Folded tables, barriers, nets and event equipment consume significant space; routes and doors should be checked.

10

Technology + controls

Scoring, cameras, streaming, FÍSVOR and event control should be positioned without creating bright distractions.

11

Evidence + standards

ITTF publishes current handbook/statutes, approved tables/nets/floors and lighting references; use the exact current documents for final competition requirements.

12

Maintenance + lifecycle

Inspect table surfaces/frames, nets, barriers, flooring, lighting, storage hardware and scoring systems.

EVIDENCE LADDER

Do not collapse different kinds of evidence into one “approved” claim.

01

Official rule / governing reference

Defines the sport or competition requirement. It does not automatically approve a supplier or construction detail.

02

Product test / approval

Applies to an exact surface, equipment item or system configuration and the scope stated by the governing programme.

03

Installed facility test / certification

Where the sport offers it, field/court/facility testing confirms the finished installation rather than only the product.

04

Project engineering

Foundations, supports, wind/seismic loads, electrical, building interfaces and local-code compliance remain project-specific.

05

Commercial release

Warranty, documentation, spares, freight, installation responsibility and exact quoted configuration are closed before order.

SPECIFICATION INPUTS

Information a useful table tennis specification should contain.

These inputs can become a consultant brief, RFP schedule or Apollo project review without prematurely inventing an exact model.

PERFORMANCE-SPECIFICATION STARTERS

Clause intent that can be developed into the project specification.

These are performance-based starting points, not a substitute for the project architect, engineer, governing body or exact selected-system data.

01 · GEOMETRY

Playing environment

Define table count, playing boxes, barriers, officials, warm-up and circulation from the intended competition/event brief.

02 · PLAYING SYSTEM

Surface performance

Use a non-slip, consistent indoor sports floor suited to table movement and competition requirements; exact ITTF-approved floor status is product-specific.

03 · EVIDENCE

Evidence and approvals

ITTF publishes current handbook/statutes, approved tables/nets/floors and lighting references; use the exact current documents for final competition requirements.

04 · HANDOVER

Maintenance and lifecycle

Inspect table surfaces/frames, nets, barriers, flooring, lighting, storage hardware and scoring systems.

DRAWING ROADMAP

Draw the interfaces that words usually miss.

Public planning diagrams can define intent. Exact fabrication, foundation, fixing and model drawings should follow only when the selected system is verified.

TECHNICAL DIAGRAM PACK

Table Tennis planning diagrams for the interfaces that written specifications miss.

Four vector sheets cover plan geometry, vertical coordination, equipment/operations and spectator/technology interfaces. Verified sport dimensions are shown only where the technical baseline supports them; conceptual allowances remain explicitly labelled.

Planning diagram status

These diagrams organise coordination information. They are not fabrication drawings, engineering drawings, construction details, certified court/field layouts or statutory documentation. Current governing-body requirements, exact selected-system drawings and local professional design take precedence.
