01 / Opening and building interface
Record clear opening dimensions, headroom, side-room, track arrangement, wall structure, fixing substrate, dock level, pit details and vehicle approach. For retrofits, measured as-built drawings are essential.
Start a brief Apollo / Industrial & Logistics Infrastructure
Better loading-bay specifications begin with the physical interfaces and the operating brief. Use this guide to identify what must be known before selecting or quoting doors, levellers, shelters and safety equipment.
Project specification sequence
Record clear opening dimensions, headroom, side-room, track arrangement, wall structure, fixing substrate, dock level, pit details and vehicle approach. For retrofits, measured as-built drawings are essential.
Record rigid truck/trailer types, bed-height variation, axle/vehicle position, forklift mass plus goods load, loading intensity and concentrated wheel loads. Leveller dynamic loading and safety must be checked against the exact proposed model.
Define external wind, rain, corrosion, temperature differential, humidity, condensation, hygiene and operating cycles. These requirements may change the door construction, shelter type, protection and maintenance regime.
Describe vehicle restraints, dock traffic lights, presence detection, emergency release, door/leveller interlocking, electrical voltage and frequency, stop logic, power-failure operation and local safety assessment.
Request door/leveller drawings, tested performance, named certification standards, structural reactions, wiring/control sequences, manuals, inspection plans, spare-parts lists and warranty terms linked to the actual supplied models.
Confirm what is included and excluded: crate/packing, delivery destination, unloading, lifting, installation, local engineering, civil/electrical work, commissioning, operator training and maintenance.
Document schedule
These are requirements to request, not a representation that the documents have already been supplied or verified.
Panel or curtain type; maximum permitted opening; wind evidence where relevant; opening/closing duty; motors; sensors; manual release; guides and fixings.
Deck and lip drawings; hydraulic/mechanical system; pit schedule; actual rated loads with test basis; wheel/point loads; control and emergency procedure.
Envelope drawings; truck geometry; fabric / seal materials; mounting and weather details; power controls if inflatable; replaceable parts.
Restraint compatibility; safety logic; interlock/wiring diagrams; light and signal sequence; emergency override; instructions for operators.
Insulation construction; temperature suitability; heater/condensation control where relevant; thermal interface drawings; hygiene and service data.
Scope boundary
Apollo's role is wholesale and project supply. Model selection, exact compatibility and documentation are reviewed before a quotation. Local engineers and contractors remain responsible for structural/civil design, electrical installation, on-site risk assessment, commissioning and approvals.
