An expandable shell can be configured for very different uses, but that does not make the projects interchangeable. A dwelling and a worksite accommodation unit create different expectations around privacy, services, occupancy and how the site operates.
Residential projects should consider kitchen and bathroom use, privacy, storage, natural light, ventilation and how occupants move between indoor and outdoor areas. The building should be briefed around life inside it, not only transport dimensions.
Project camps may prioritise repeatable rooms, durable finishes, shared facilities, staff circulation and efficient servicing. The broader camp layout can be as important as the specification of one module.
Permanent housing may connect to established local services, while remote sites can require tanks, wastewater systems, backup power or temporary infrastructure. Those utility pathways should be defined before the internal layout is frozen.
A modular product does not create one universal compliance pathway. Occupancy type, duration, destination and local regulations all influence the approvals and local professional input required.
