Rugby Turf Systems

Rugby turf selected around contact performance and field use.

Project-configured artificial rugby turf for clubs, schools, academies, community facilities and competition venues. Selection is based on player group, contact level, use intensity, impact performance, shock layer, base, drainage, climate, maintenance and any formal project requirement.

Four project pathways

Choose the rugby programme before the field construction.

Rugby turf is reviewed as a complete contact-sport field system rather than a generic long-pile surface.

01

Rugby Performance

Higher-performance pathway for competition-oriented rugby projects with defined impact and field-performance requirements.

Project configured
02

Rugby Club

Club and academy pathway balancing repeat use, contact performance, maintenance and lifecycle planning.

Project configured
03

Rugby School & Community

Durable pathway for education, community and participation facilities with practical operating requirements.

Project configured
04

Rugby Shared Code

Shared field pathway where rugby must be coordinated with football or other compatible field sports.

Selection logic

What determines the right rugby turf?

Contact sport places additional importance on the complete field construction, impact response, maintenance and installed-field performance.

Playing programme

Competition, club, academy, school, community or shared-code use.

Contact level

Age groups, contact intensity and intended rugby programme.

Usage intensity

Training load, match use and shared-use hours.

Shock / elastic layer

Selected against the exact system and required impact-performance pathway.

Base & drainage

New construction, conversion or replacement condition.

Climate

Heat, UV, rainfall, humidity, freeze-thaw and coastal exposure.

Evidence requirement

Any governing-body, consultant, tender or completed-field testing requirement.

Rugby turf system layers including turf surface, support layers, drainage and prepared base

Complete surface system

Rugby performance depends on the complete field build-up.

The final rugby construction may include turf, stabilising and performance infill where applicable, shock or elastic layer, drainage, prepared base, edge restraint and line marking. These elements are reviewed together because impact performance depends on the complete installed system.

Supply model

LUTHVAR is supplied on a wholesale and project basis. Civil works, drainage construction, installation, testing and local compliance remain project-specific and are confirmed in the project scope.

Project brief

What we need to review a rugby field.

A clear rugby brief lets the contact-performance pathway, field construction and evidence requirements be reviewed together.

Technical evidence

Rugby performance requirements are exact-system and installed-field specific.

Where a project requires formal rugby-turf testing or certification, the proposed turf, infill, shock layer and completed installation must be assessed against the current applicable requirements. A historic project or product-family statement does not certify a different field construction.

Rugby project brief

Send the project conditions before locking the turf.

We can then identify the appropriate LUTHVAR rugby pathway and confirm the exact technical configuration at quotation stage.
