SPORTS NETTING SYSTEMS

Ball containment. Field protection. Training environments.

LUTHVAR Sports Netting Systems brings together backstops, ball-stop netting, practice enclosures, batting cages and project-specific containment for schools, clubs, academies, councils, resorts and major facilities.

Wholesale & Project Supply · Supply-only systems · Structural design project-specific where applicable.

APPLICATION → SYSTEM → NET → STRUCTURE → ENGINEERING

Specify the containment system around the sport.

Ball size, field geometry, required containment area, environment and support structure all influence the final netting system. LUTHVAR separates these decisions rather than treating sports netting as a generic commodity.

CORE RANGE

Sport-specific pathways

Each page starts with existing manufacturing capability and keeps structural and unverified technical values project-controlled.

MATERIAL PLATFORM

Three material pathways. One controlled specification process.

Manufacturer capability includes polyester, PP, PE and custom material pathways. LUTHVAR uses polyester as the preferred starting point for many demanding outdoor sports-containment applications, subject to the exact project.

Polyester

Preferred starting point for demanding outdoor sports-containment applications where appropriate.

Polypropylene · PP

Flexible project specification for selected sports and containment applications.

Polyethylene · PE

Available for selected sports and project-specific applications.

SYSTEM SELECTION

Six decisions before engineering.

Open technical centre
01

SPORT

Choose the sport or combination of sports.

02

CONTAINMENT AREA

Backstop, behind goal, perimeter, cage, divider, roof or full enclosure.

03

NET

Material, mesh, twine, colour and edge construction.

04

STRUCTURE

Existing frame, pole-supported, cable-supported, building-supported or combined.

05

ENVIRONMENT

Indoor, outdoor, exposed, coastal or special environment.

06

PROJECT ENGINEERING

Dimensions, location, wind conditions, supports, foundations and anchorage.

PROJECT-SPECIFIC STRUCTURAL DESIGN

Net selection can be standardised. The supporting structure cannot be assumed.

Supporting poles, structural frames, cable loads, foundations, anchorage and wind design depend on the individual project and must be assessed for the site, dimensions, environmental conditions and applicable engineering requirements.

NETTING 101

Questions that decide the system.

What mesh size do I need for sports netting?

It depends on the sport and containment zone. Smaller-ball sports generally need finer mesh, while larger-ball sports can use wider mesh. LUTHVAR starts with sport-specific manufacturer references, then confirms the exact project specification.

Polyester or polypropylene for outdoor sports netting?

Polyester is the preferred LUTHVAR starting point for many demanding outdoor applications where appropriate. PP remains available for selected projects. The final choice should follow the exact mesh, twine, UV/weathering evidence, budget and operating environment rather than material name alone.

How high should ball-stop netting be?

There is no single correct height. Required height depends on the sport, ball trajectory, distance to boundaries, neighbouring property, spectator areas and project risk. Pole height and spacing also influence structural loads and must be reviewed for the actual site.

What changes for coastal sports-netting projects?

The net, support structure and metal hardware should be assessed separately. Salt exposure can change the appropriate finish and hardware grade. LUTHVAR does not assume a stainless grade until the exact hardware and project exposure are confirmed.

Why does wind loading matter for high netting systems?

A large net area can create significant load on poles, cables, anchors and foundations. Net porosity, height, spacing, local wind actions and the support arrangement all matter, so structural design remains project-specific.
