Mesh selection
Smaller-ball sports generally require finer mesh; larger-ball applications can use wider mesh. The manufacturer sports range demonstrates application-specific mesh rather than one universal net.

SPECIFICATION LOGIC
Choose the sport or combination of sports.
Backstop, behind goal, perimeter, cage, divider, roof or full enclosure.
Material, mesh, twine, colour and edge construction.
Existing frame, pole-supported, cable-supported, building-supported or combined.
Indoor, outdoor, exposed, coastal or special environment.
Dimensions, location, wind conditions, supports, foundations and anchorage.
Smaller-ball sports generally require finer mesh; larger-ball applications can use wider mesh. The manufacturer sports range demonstrates application-specific mesh rather than one universal net.
Much of the existing sports range uses knotless construction, including baseball, golf, football, tennis and hockey references.
Manufacturer documentation references ASTM D6637 / ISO 2307, ASTM D4355 / ISO 4892 and ASTM D4886 for tensile, UV/weathering and abrasion-related testing. Applicable reports are confirmed per selected specification.
Customisation includes material, colour, dimension, shape and mesh size. Mesh from approximately 10 mm to 100 mm and beyond is stated as available.

ENVIRONMENT
Indoor, standard outdoor, exposed, coastal and special-environment projects can require different material, hardware and maintenance decisions. Coastal hardware grades remain project-confirmed until manufacturer evidence is received.
Sports halls, training centres and covered facilities.
UV, wind, rain, heat and site exposure become core inputs.
Net, support structure and metal hardware are assessed as separate exposure-sensitive components.
PROJECT-SPECIFIC STRUCTURAL DESIGN
Supporting poles, structural frames, cable loads, foundations, anchorage and wind design depend on the individual project and must be assessed for the site, dimensions, environmental conditions and applicable engineering requirements.
EDUCATION
It depends on the sport and containment zone. Smaller-ball sports generally need finer mesh, while larger-ball sports can use wider mesh. LUTHVAR starts with sport-specific manufacturer references, then confirms the exact project specification.
Polyester is the preferred LUTHVAR starting point for many demanding outdoor applications where appropriate. PP remains available for selected projects. The final choice should follow the exact mesh, twine, UV/weathering evidence, budget and operating environment rather than material name alone.
There is no single correct height. Required height depends on the sport, ball trajectory, distance to boundaries, neighbouring property, spectator areas and project risk. Pole height and spacing also influence structural loads and must be reviewed for the actual site.
The net, support structure and metal hardware should be assessed separately. Salt exposure can change the appropriate finish and hardware grade. LUTHVAR does not assume a stainless grade until the exact hardware and project exposure are confirmed.
A large net area can create significant load on poles, cables, anchors and foundations. Net porosity, height, spacing, local wind actions and the support arrangement all matter, so structural design remains project-specific.
