Outdoor Living & Architecture · Specific answer

Do Louvre Roofs Stop Rain?

Closed louvres can provide useful overhead rain protection when the system and drainage are correctly configured. Wind-driven rain, side openings and site conditions still matter.

Planning guidance — final supplied configuration remains project-specific.

01

Water is collected, not made to disappear

Rainfall is directed toward integrated gutters or drainage channels and then to a discharge route. That downstream route needs to be planned at the site.

02

Outdoor is different from indoor

Wind-driven rain can enter from sides or around interfaces. Avoid treating an operable louvre structure as a sealed building envelope unless the whole enclosure has been designed and verified for that purpose.
