An outdoor room is a system, not a roof with accessories added later. Roof behaviour, side enclosure, water, wind, lighting, cooking, circulation and local works should be coordinated from the beginning.

Coordinate roof and sides
A roof controls overhead exposure while blinds, glass or panels control the sides. The combination changes airflow, wind behaviour, privacy and how the room feels through different seasons.
Plan water and thresholds
Roof drainage, deck or paving falls, door thresholds and side-screen details should work together. Outdoor rooms should not be described as indoor waterproof rooms unless the complete building envelope is actually designed and verified as such.
Bring services in early
Lighting, power, heaters, controls, audio and outdoor-kitchen services are easier to coordinate before the structure and finishes are frozen. Keep service access available for future maintenance.
Leave local responsibilities visible
