Apollo NZ GlobalProject Brief

RHELGAN · WASH Capacity Planner

Make population, entered design criteria and service demand visible before system selection.

This tool performs arithmetic using criteria entered by the project team. It deliberately does not set humanitarian, public-health or statutory standards. Applicable agency, donor, national and programme requirements must be entered and verified by the responsible project professionals.

Entered project criteria

Replace the example values with the project’s actual design basis.

The pre-filled values are arithmetic examples only and must not be interpreted as WHO, UNHCR, donor, national or local minimums. Enter the criteria applicable to the actual programme before using the outputs.

Close the real WASH brief

Arithmetic is only the start of WASH infrastructure design.

Water source, quality, treatment, storage, distribution, sanitation technology, wastewater, gender/accessibility, cleaning, power, climate and operator capability all change the final system.

01

Applicable design basis

Record the exact agency, donor, national and local criteria used for water and sanitation planning.

02

Source + quality

Define source reliability, raw-water quality, treatment duty, drinking-water pathway and monitoring responsibility.

03

Wastewater pathway

Confirm sewer, septic, holding, treatment or off-site disposal strategy plus desludging/service access.

04

Hot water + power

Showers and cleaning may require heating, pumps and controls that materially change power and storage.

05

Accessibility + safeguarding

Facility layout, privacy, lighting, gender/age needs and accessible routes must be designed for the actual users.

06

Operations

Consumables, cleaning, water testing, desludging, spares and operator responsibilities should be planned before handover.

From arithmetic to programme infrastructure

Carry the entered design basis into RHELGAN system selection and project review.
