Volleyball
Facility Specification Pack

Volleyball facility design is three-dimensional. The playing rectangle matters, but free zones, clear height, overhead services, post restraint, lighting and multi-court separation often decide whether the hall really works.

PROJECT PATHProject Brief
01

PROJECT INTENT

Define the facility level before selecting systems.

01Schools · councils · participation

Community / education

School/community hall with safe posts, floor sockets or portable bases and easy storage.

02Clubs · academies · universities

Club / academy

Club hall with repeat setup, resilient floor, officials equipment and multi-court capability.

03Regional · national competition

Competition

Competition court with exact equipment evidence, larger free space, lighting and spectator/event infrastructure.

04International · professional · broadcast

Elite / major venue

Major event arena with FIVB-level free-space planning, high clear volume, broadcast lighting, FÍSVOR and seating.

02

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Twelve coordination clauses for the complete facility.

01

geometry

Protect the 18 × 9 m court, free zone and free playing space above. For higher competition levels the free zone and clear height increase substantially.

02

surface

Indoor surfaces must be flat, uniform and non-hazardous. Coordinate wood/synthetic floor performance, sockets, line markings and portable event floors.

03

equipment

Posts, sockets or portable bases, net/tensioning, antennae, referee stand and padding must operate safely under net tension and repeated setup.

04

lighting

Keep luminaires and roof services out of the playing volume while controlling glare and camera flicker.

05

spectators

Locate seating and officials outside the free zone while maintaining court access, team benches and event circulation.

06

structure

Coordinate floor sockets, portable base loads, roof clearances, dividers, scoreboards, lighting, ducts, sprinklers and speakers.

07

environment

Air movement and temperature affect comfort and ball behaviour; avoid draughts through the active playing volume.

08

accessibility

Accessible routes, viewing and event circulation should be designed around the free zone and seating rather than narrowing them.

09

storage

Posts, nets, referee stands, padding, ball carts and portable floors need protected storage near the hall.

10

technology

FÍSVOR scoreboards, match control, PA and video should remain outside the playing volume and connect cleanly to officials.

11

evidence

Use the current FIVB rules for court/free-space requirements and keep exact equipment approval evidence tied to the selected products.

12

lifecycle

Inspect sockets, post bases, net/tension equipment, padding, referee stand, floor and scoring systems after repeated changeovers.

03

05

EVIDENCE & RELEASE

Keep each evidence type attached to what it actually proves.

01

Governing rule

Defines sport or competition requirements. It does not approve a supplier or local construction detail.

02

Exact product evidence

Testing, approval, certification or manufacturer evidence must match the selected product/configuration.

03

Installed outcome

Where applicable, field/court/facility certification relates to the completed installation rather than the product alone.

04

Project engineering

Foundations, structural supports, wind/seismic, electrical and building interfaces remain project-specific.

05

Commercial release

Quantity, documentation, warranty, freight, installation boundaries, spares and handover are closed before order.

06

MAINTENANCE & HANDOVER

Specify how performance will be maintained.

07

TECHNICAL RISK CHECK

Common symptoms that should trigger investigation.

01

Net tension instability

Check posts, sockets/bases, cable, tensioner and floor/foundation restraint.

02

Ball contacts roof/service

Recheck clear playing volume and suspended services.

03

Glare on high balls

Review fixture position/aiming and bright background surfaces.

04

Slow multi-court setup

Review equipment carts, socket caps, divider sequence and storage distance.

05

Floor slip

Check contamination, finish condition and cleaning chemistry.

06

Officials sightline obstruction

Review referee stand, benches, scorer and spectator layout.

08

PRIMARY GOVERNING REFERENCES

Verify final requirements at the official source.

SUPPLY BOUNDARY

Apollo is supply-only.

Local design, foundations, civil works, installation, electrical work, statutory approvals, accessibility compliance and professional sign-off remain with the appropriate project parties unless a specific support item is expressly included. Current governing-body rules, exact selected-system data and local requirements take precedence over this planning pack.
