PROJECT PATHProject Brief
01

PROJECT INTENT

Define the facility level before selecting systems.

01Schools · councils · participation

Community / education

Durable shared hall, teaching equipment, straightforward storage and community lighting.

02Clubs · academies · universities

Club / academy

Competition-style backstops, resilient sports floor, scoring, spectator and repeat changeover.

03Regional · national competition

Competition

Exact equipment evidence, competition floor, shot clocks, scorer systems, lighting and controlled spectator layout.

04International · professional · broadcast

Elite / major venue

Major seating, broadcast lighting, FÍSVOR video / scoring, media, high-clearance rigging and event operations.

02

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Twelve coordination clauses for the complete facility.

01

geometry

Coordinate the 28 × 15 m playing court, outer boundary, backstop position, team / scorer zones, player movement and the wider hall envelope. FIBA's venue guide uses 32 × 19 m as the minimum overall court area reference.

02

surface

Compare approved wood, glass and synthetic pathways by competition level. Resolve slab flatness, moisture, sprung-floor construction, dead spots, rolling loads, temporary-event protection and humidity control.

03

equipment

Choose mobile, floor-fixed, wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted backstops from the building interface first. Then match boards, rings, nets, padding and shot-clock support to the exact system.

04

lighting

Coordinate horizontal and vertical illuminance, uniformity, glare, flicker, colour rendering and camera requirements. Competition/broadcast design should be based on the highest event level the venue intends to host.

05

spectators

Plan courtside seating, retractable banks, tiered sightlines, accessible viewing, circulation, team benches, scorer table and media positions together.

06

structure

Check slab loads, anchors, wall reactions, roof / secondary steel, clear height, divider travel, lighting, ducts, sprinklers, scoreboards and rigging before equipment release.

07

environment

Control direct sun, internal glare, temperature, humidity and water ingress. Wood and resilient systems can be permanently damaged by uncontrolled moisture.

08

accessibility

Coordinate wheelchair viewing, accessible spectator routes, ramps to raised portable floors, player access and inclusive height-adjustable equipment where appropriate.

09

storage

Show deployed and parked dimensions for backstops, portable floors, seating, divider curtains and event equipment. Door widths, thresholds and floor protection should be drawn, not assumed.

10

technology

Coordinate scorer console, game clock, shot clocks, repeaters, FÍSVOR displays, power, data, cameras and venue control as one match-control layer.

11

evidence

Separate FIBA competition level, FIBA Approved Equipment, exact-model technical evidence and project-specific structural / local-code requirements.

12

lifecycle

Document daily cleaning, floor inspection, recoating/refinishing, equipment lubrication, fastener checks, padding condition, spare components, seating inspection and control-system testing.

05

EVIDENCE & RELEASE

Keep each evidence type attached to what it actually proves.

01

Governing rule

Defines sport or competition requirements. It does not approve a supplier or local construction detail.

02

Exact product evidence

Testing, approval, certification or manufacturer evidence must match the selected product/configuration.

03

Installed outcome

Where applicable, field/court/facility certification relates to the completed installation rather than the product alone.

04

Project engineering

Foundations, structural supports, wind/seismic, electrical and building interfaces remain project-specific.

05

Commercial release

Quantity, documentation, warranty, freight, installation boundaries, spares and handover are closed before order.

06

MAINTENANCE & HANDOVER

Specify how performance will be maintained.

01

Court cleaning and slip-control regime

02

Humidity / moisture monitoring

03

Backstop and ring inspection

04

Padding and protection inspection

05

Shot-clock / scoring functional checks

06

Seating and guard inspection

07

Floor recoating / resurfacing planning

08

Critical spares register

07

TECHNICAL RISK CHECK

Common symptoms that should trigger investigation.

01

Dead spots or inconsistent ball rebound

Check slab flatness, subfloor support, moisture damage and local floor deformation.

02

Backstop difficult to move

Check wheel condition, floor thresholds, route width, floor protection and operating procedure.

03

Player glare

Review luminaire location/aiming, direct sun and reflective floor/display surfaces.

04

Score / shot-clock sync issues

Check protocol, cabling, power, controller settings and exact product compatibility.

05

Floor marking wear

Check coating system, cleaning chemistry, event protection and maintenance cycle.

06

Poor sightlines

Recheck courtside obstructions, first-row position, riser geometry and spectator focal point.

08

SUPPLY BOUNDARY

Apollo is supply-only.

Local design, foundations, civil works, installation, electrical work, statutory approvals, accessibility compliance and professional sign-off remain with the appropriate project parties unless a specific support item is expressly included. Current governing-body rules, exact selected-system data and local requirements take precedence over this planning pack.
