Describe the real exposure
Sea spray, prevailing wind, shelter, elevation and how often surfaces are naturally washed all influence salt deposition. Distance from the sea is only one part of the exposure picture.
Build Project BriefOutdoor Kitchens & Entertaining · Coastal guide
Coastal exposure affects the whole kitchen assembly: cabinetry, fasteners, appliances, electrical components, moving parts and the maintenance routine. No single material grade makes an outdoor kitchen maintenance-free near salt.

Sea spray, prevailing wind, shelter, elevation and how often surfaces are naturally washed all influence salt deposition. Distance from the sea is only one part of the exposure picture.
Current NORDVAL planning material includes stainless-steel kitchen-module pathways, but coatings, hinges, fasteners, refrigeration, electrical parts and appliance finishes still need their own suitability and care requirements.
Surfaces, drainage paths and hardware should remain reachable for fresh-water cleaning and inspection where required by the final product instructions. Avoid architectural details that permanently trap salt or water around serviceable components.
Maintenance frequency should follow the exact products, actual exposure and supplier instructions. Do not apply one universal coastal interval to every component.
