Shipping, Imports & Project Delivery — India

How to plan international product shipping, customs, receiving and local delivery for India projects, with supply-only responsibilities clearly defined.

India project imports should be reviewed against the destination state, the importer of record, product category and the current applicable Indian requirements; avoid treating all equipment as unrestricted imports.

Apollo NZ Global is supply-only. Local customs clearance, statutory approvals, site engineering, installation and destination works are not included unless expressly identified in a written quotation.

Buyer pathway

From project specification to freight handover.

01

Identify the final project and consignee

State the exact country, region or state, project location, quantity and receiving party.

02

Confirm product scope and freight basis

Agree dimensions, packed weights, agreed Incoterm and named place, insurance, packing and handling requirements.

03

Prepare for destination clearance

Have the importer and their agent confirm HS classification, duties, taxes, origin and required permits before manufacturing release.

04

Arrange local receiving and installation

Separate any overseas freight from customs clearance, port fees, inland delivery, unloading, site works and local approvals.

Freight and receiving

Plan the whole route, not only the ocean leg.

Delivery point and handover

Provide state, city, port or inland container depot and full final-site logistics.

Import and commercial scope

Define the Incoterm, named terminal, customs broker, importer of record, import documentation, port storage and demurrage responsibilities.

Handling and site access

Check monsoon periods, access for large cargo, route surveys, lifting and phased receiving for stadium or building packages.

Destination compliance

Duties, taxes and import documentation.

Classification and taxes

The importer should confirm HS classification, Basic Customs Duty and relevant surcharges, import IGST and any other applicable assessments using current Indian tariff rules.

Destination permissions

Check whether BIS/QCO, product registration, electrical, safety, radio/wireless or other approvals apply to the exact model before shipment.

Shipping paperwork

Commercial documentation and customs filing must be verified by the Indian importer and customs broker; do not assume an across-the-board tariff.

Rates, legal requirements and applicable certifications can change. This page does not provide binding customs, tax, engineering or legal advice; verify with the local importer, regulator and appointed professionals.
