Rotating Observatory Domes

Original ASTRAVYR architectural illustration of a hilltop observatory with a rotating dome and telescope at twilight
ASTRAVYR architectural concept illustration · Not a photograph or verified product configuration

A protected home for astronomical instruments, with a rotating enclosure and dedicated observing aperture.

PRELIMINARY PRODUCT FAMILY · CONFIGURATIONS SUBJECT TO TECHNICAL REVIEW

01 / SYSTEM OPTIONS

System concepts under review.

The following are preliminary product configurations, not confirmed available models. Final selection requires technical documentation and project review.

01

Steel-frame rotating domes; indicative 2–20 m range, with initial focus on 2–6 m projects

Configuration, dimensions, certification and export availability to be confirmed.

02

Custom instrument and shutter integration

Configuration, dimensions, certification and export availability to be confirmed.

TECHNICAL CENTRE / GEOMETRY & OPERATIONS

How the rotating dome must work.

A rotating enclosure tracks the telescope azimuth while an independently operated shutter opens the observing aperture. The telescope optical path must remain clear throughout the required observing envelope.

REVIEW 01

Dome rotation

Verify rotation axis, travel, drive, azimuth synchronisation and emergency manual operation.

REVIEW 02

Shutter aperture

Check shutter opening width, travel, sealing, weather response and safe-close behaviour.

REVIEW 03

Telescope clearance

Confirm optical tube, mount, pier and instrument swing clearances in all planned orientations.

REVIEW 04

Building interface

Obtain ring beam, anchorage, loads, maintenance access and local structural review.

Engineering verification required · Product imagery does not establish dimensions, certification, compatibility or product availability.

02 / TECHNICAL COMPARISON

Compare the right requirements.

Technical values are intentionally withheld until model-specific technical documents are checked. The matrix identifies what buyers should compare before specifying a system.

03 / PROJECT DEFINITION

What we need to understand.

01

What telescope and mount will the enclosure house?

02

What diameter and available building footprint are proposed?

03

What are the site's wind, seismic, corrosion and temperature conditions?

04

Is remote operation or automatic weather closure required?

04 / ENGINEERING & PROCUREMENT

Evidence before specification.

We will request and review technical documents before making project-specific performance or compliance claims.

✓ Diameter, materials, mass and wind/seismic design evidence

✓ Rotation mechanism, shutter controls and emergency procedures

✓ Interface drawings, foundations and local compliance responsibilities
