Street furniture works when it supports how people move, pause, meet and use the place. Product selection should consider location, ergonomics, material exposure, maintenance and the surrounding paving and landscape as one system.

Coordinate furniture with circulation
Furniture, planters, bins and bollards should support clear routes and sightlines. Accessibility and circulation requirements belong in the site design and should be confirmed by the local project team.
Review materials as assemblies
Timber, aluminium, steel, stainless components, coatings and weathering steel create different maintenance and exposure pathways. One material label does not make the complete product maintenance-free or universally coastal-suitable.
Design for replacement and servicing
Public products need cleaning, inspections and eventual component replacement. Fixings and service zones should remain practical after surrounding paving and landscaping are complete.
