Apollo NZ GlobalBuild Project Brief

Public Realm & Development · Shelter answer

What Is the Difference Between Public Shade and Shelter?

Shade primarily manages solar exposure; shelter can also address rain and waiting comfort. The structural and drainage implications can be very different.

Planning guidance — final supplied configuration remains project-specific.

01

Start with the exposure

If sun is the main issue, a lighter shade pathway may be enough. If rain, waiting comfort or more enclosed use matters, a more permanent shelter system may be required.

02

Do not overstate weather performance

Shade and everyday shelter systems should not be described as storm protection without exact tested evidence for the supplied configuration.
